Condition Monitoring

Efficient Dredging is not only about systems and equipment, but also about maximum uptime of dredgers. To obtain that, it is recommendable to switch to predictive maintenance. IHC Systems Condition Based Maintenance System (CBMS) supports clients with that purpose. Such solutions are composed out of computers, mathematical models, dedicated sensors and communication means.

Solutions in this field must allways be customized as to their extent and functionality: it can start with a dredge process-only version and be extended to platform functions - or the other way around until a total integration of all maintenance functions has been obtained. In any case, there are generic opportunities and features:

  • Increase of maintenance benefits by a combination of OEM and operational knowledge.
  • Application of Artificial Intelligence and Model Based Control.
  • 'Living' models, developed in close cooperation with client's technical and operational crew, and validated online.
  • Dedicated sensors on strategic locations for the discovery of wear.
  • Data exchange with vessel's maintenance management systems.
  • Prediction of next maintenance need and extent at a given load of the systems.
  • Prediction of remaining life time of wear parts.
  • Optimum management of spare parts and automatic spare parts ordering.
  • Data exchange between vessel and office over a reliable and safe satellite supported Internet platform, e.g. IHC Connect.

Speaking about uptime: our fully automated Equipment Information System (WIS) provides data on all our deliveries, so clients do not need bothering about particular specifications or finding specific suppliers to match a request from the dredge operator for spares. Even requests for alternatives of obsolete items can most times be solved with a minimum of effort on fitting them in existing installations.
