Zeebrugge simulator

Back to efficient dredging news

Last Friday December the 17th, the Flemish Minister-President Yves Leterme officially paid homage to the new navigation training simulator centre in Zeebrugge, Belgium. This project is the result of intensive cooperation and sharing knowledge between all parties involved, i.e. the government, dredging- and fishing industry and maritime partners. With this simulator the students are trained in a very realistic environment and become familiar with all aspects of modern ship navigation.
A consortium consisting of Imtech Marine & Offshore B.V., IHC Systems B.V. and MARIN combined their specific knowledge to implement this particular project. They worked together to reach synergy and to create a new simulator; unique of its kind. The flexibility enables sailing and navigation to several different harbours all over the world (among them: Antwerp, Rotterdam, Singapore). The steering house with bridge consoles is equipped with projectors to facilitate a 330° round outside-view presentation. On December 18th and 19th the simulator held open-doors, and many people came over to visit and were impressed by the result with a touch of seasickness.
