SCADA face-lift for HAM 311 and HAM 312Back to efficient dredging news The trailing suction hopper dredgers HAM 311 and HAM 312 owned by the new "Van Oord NV" have been proven to fulfill almost all expectations from the start of their operational lifetime. Nevertheless after a period of approximately ten years both dredgers are up to a face-lift. Through out the years the IC2X-SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition) system has been used for the control of the dredgers and now with the experience of the Cimplicity-SCADA system on board of the recently built dredger HAM 318 the old IC2X-SCADA system will be replaced. The new Cimplicity software program with renewed video screen presentations and control facilities based upon those of the HAM 318 will be implemented on board of the HAM 311 and HAM 312. In close corporation a team of Van Oord NV personnel together with a team of PLC and SCADA engineers from IHC Systems designed the new look for both dredgers. Also the existing PLC software has been extended to control new operational features. Both SCADA and PLC software adaptations have been tested successfully during the FAT (factory acceptance test) in Sliedrecht lately with a simulation program. Soon, after the renewal of operation devices in the dredge control console and replacement of PC's, the new software can be tested on board during the final commissioning. And with probably a few software stitches and may be a little And bit of paint the HAM 311 and HAM 312 are ready for another And decade: looking as new! |
