Back to efficient dredging news

The following major projects have been commissioned successfully

Halul Digital Single Buoy Mooring Radio Shutdown System
Halul Island in the Persian Gulf, one of the Qatar Petroleum refineries, is equipped with the latest state of technology Digital Radio Shutdown System. Halul has two Single Buoy Moorings at different locations offshore and is able to load two shuttle tankers
simultaneously.
At two different locations at Halul Island (radio room and refinery control room) operators are available 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. The digital radio shutdown system is installed in October 2005 and runs since November 2005. The official hand over was on April 1st, 2006 to Qatar Petroleum.
All local vessels, tugs and the operators are equipped with digital (FM approved) mobiles and portable radios and are able to activate the shutdown procedure during loading at any location at the Halul Island and neighbouring waters in case of an emergency. Special portable mobile systems are supplied for use at the shuttle tankers. With this mobile system can, at any location inside the tanker, the shutdown be activated. All activations (radio number, time, which SBM system and operator) are logged/stored and printed. Each false alarm generating a shutdown can only be deactivated from this radio and control room. The heart of the system is based on a redundant compact TETRA system. The Terrestrial Trunked Radio is an ETSI standard for digital mobile radio communication for both voice and data traffic.

Deep, Deeper, Deepest

In the continuing effort for dredging contractors to collect sand from deeper waters, Dredging International took its trailer Pearl River suction tube extension to be able to dredge on a depth of 110 mtrs into service. The dredge is presently operating in Italian waters.

Facelift
Together with its suction tube extension to be able to dredge to a depth of 110 mtrs, the Pearl River received also its new Human Machine Interface (HMI) SCADA presentation. The original installed IC2X became obsolete and was successfully replaced by today’s solution in the shape of Cimplicity.

Looking underwater
IHC Systems’ created with its latest simulator delivery the possibility of looking underwater.
We wish Jan de Nul, owner of our latest cutter dredger training simulator, many stimulating hours underwater.
