IHC systems' DP/DT track pilot passed the exam!

Since 1998 IHC Systems supplies high quality Dynamic Positioning and Dynamic Tracking (DP/DT) systems for trailing suction hopper dredgers. IHC Systems' DP/ DT system makes it possible to accurately stay on position or follow a track within close margins in spite of disturbances like drag head forces, current and wind. And therefore supports accurate and efficient dredging also for the most demanding dredge operations. DP/DT includes, among other operation modes, an auto-pilot and track-pilot.

Auto- and track-pilots have to meet a large number of quality requirements to obtain a type approval. These requirements are laid out, amongst others, by the Marine Equipment Directive (MED) of the EU. As early as in 2001 Bureau Veritas (B.V.) approved the DP/DT auto-pilot. Recently (June 2003) the IHC Systems' DP/DT track-pilot was also examined by B.V. meeting their strict requirements and passing with flying colours, earning B.V.'s type approval certificate. This approval guarantees that all high quality standards are met and allowing the track-pilot to use the Wheel mark.
