Back to efficient dredging news

Time seems to fly and it feels like yesterday when I started my new position in the company. During my introduction period we visited Dubai in order to complete my picture of the dredging industry. I was impressed by the size of the projects and the enormous demand of dredge material in this region for the coming years. It also confirmed my impression that most of the equipment delivered by our company is not subject to wear. This brings me to
our decision, which was taken by the end of last year, to change the business model of our service related presence from permanent presence to work related presence. During the last
months we finished several projects successfully including the training simulator with an artificial outside view for Jan de Nul.

Time also seems to fly for two colleagues Piet van Dijk and Rens Klootwijk, who celebrated their 25 years jubilee with IHC Systems on May 18th. Piet as system engineer and Rens as manager proposal and calculation celebrated their jubilee with a nice barbecue-party. Lots of guests were invited like clients, (old) colleagues from both Imtech and IHC and of course the closest family of the jubilees. As an old Dutch proverb says “You get what you deserve” and that was in this case a nice dry sunny day, which is rare these days and a successful event.

In view of the present projects and large expected projects there will be ample work for the majority of the World Dredging fleet until 2010. For the dredging industry this is a much improved outlook, assuming that we will be able to capitalize on this with profitable projects.
Our challenge for the near future is to keep our customers satisfied and to develop new standard and customized products.

Efficient Dredging is a publication of IHC Systems BV the Netherlands for all those involved in making dredging operations more efficient and accurate.
