DTPS (Dredge Track Presentation System)

Back to overview efficient solutions.

Nowadays a modern dredging company cannot operate without the use of modern hydrographic equipment and surveying techniques. Modern hydrographic survey equipment gives detailed pre and post information on the area to be dredged. Thorough knowledge of the project before and during the dredge process, allows for planning the project more efficiently, thus saving much time and money.

The DTPS system is IHC Systems' software tool for monitoring wet excavation processes in the dredging and construction industry. This windows based software product is developed in house over the past 4 years.

Due to IHC Systems' continuous development in automation and the industry’s demand for efficient dredging, a strong synergetic cooperation between IHC Systems and the operational dredging industries is build in the last
30 years.

DTPS interfaces all of IHC Systems' major monitoring & control systems for Hopper, Cutter, Excavator, Clamshell, Bucket line dredgers and our Integrated Dredge Control System (IDCS). Besides these monitoring & control systems a
wide variety of industry standard or dedicated systems for GPS positioning, gyro, motion, echo sounder and tidal observations can be interfaced
simultaneously. This enables the software to monitor the behavior of the dredge tool(s) relative to the dredging and navigation environment.

For optimal control on the progress and status of a dredging operation DTPS core functions are:

  • visualization of all aspects of the dredging operation
  • updating in real-time of a “spot map” (a Digital Terrain Model combined with color coding indicating the dredging process (under water) based on the calculated dredge tool (drag head, cutter head, excavator bucket) in the previously surveyed bottom profile)
  • import pre-surveyed data into DTPS and processed into a dredge DTM import Chart data from a variety of formats to act as background in the viewers
  • possibility to store all incoming sensor data on-line on the computer’s disk for easy replay (either on existing configuration or changed configuration) thus establishing a basis for (external and internal) quality control.

DTPS is able to work in a TCP/IP network, either on board the same ship or at different locations. Hence one or more DTPS computers can act in the IDCS (Integrated Dredge Control System) system. Data can be shared between these DTPS computers or with the DP/DT system for track guidance and steering or the ECDIS system for navigation.
