The wear resistant radioactive type of Concentration Indicator is often preferred on board dredgers. The standard model uses a purpose-designed, internally lined, flanged pipe. For special applications, a weld-on model or clamp-on is available which can be fitted to existing uninterrupted pipelines.

A Geiger Müller or Scintillation detection system is used depending on the configuration and the diameter of the pipe. All the radioactive Concentration Indicators are designed to meet the safety regulations applied to dredge vessels.
